make it sing

today i'm listening to: ragged wood - fleet foxes

hey there, cupcake.

thought i'd shift a blog into the abyss
just because i wanna...

and because infinity doesn't keep track

of all the things you do
(only you do, so lighten up).

i haven't been outdoors much this summer,
but i'm hoping to change that
quite immediately.
(heading to the palm desert this weekend...
AKA leisure, california)

life is constantly changing and developing.
and this hurtling train/falling plane/speeding car i've been riding for the past six months
DOESN'T SEEM TO BE SLOWING DOWN.
[occupational hazard, i presume.]
so
instead of waiting for the calm,
i've decided to regroup, reevaluate,
and TRY TO MAKE TIME FOR MYSELF.

i guess
i thought the process of becoming an adult would take a few years
but maybe life's not about becoming an adult.
perhaps we should all focus less
on WHAT we're becoming
and instead,  just focus on the becoming.
and make it beautiful.
fuck it,
MAKE IT SING.

don't ask yourself
what the world needs
ask yourself
what makes you come alive
because what the world needs
is people to come alive.

so little of what could happen does happen.

sometimes it's important to remember what a tiny speck you are.

my two favorite things!

i'm off to shimmy, shake, and glow around the edges.

there is something
in every one of you
that waits and listens
for the sound of the genuine in yourself.
it is the only true guide you will ever have.
and if you cannot hear it,
you will
all of your life
spend your days on the ends of strings
that somebody else pulls.
